Vera Plosila

Traverso player Vera Plosila has performed as an orchestral and chamber musician with groups in Finland, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. For Ensemble Nylandia, she leads an orchestral collaboration on Nordic-Baltic court music from the 16th-18th centuries which has so far toured Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, and Finland. During the season 2024–25, Vera’s traverso consort Intra vires will perform in the Nordic premiere of Francesco Cavalli’s La Doriclea (1645) and give its debut concerts at the Aurore Renaissance Music Festival (FI) and the Ceciliana Early Music Festival (EE). Vera plays in the historical wind quintet Freies Spiel and regularly collaborates with fortepianist Anastasios Zafeiropoulos.

Vera is a PhD candidate of the docARTES program at Leiden University. Under the supervision of professors Rebecca Cypess and Dinko Fabris, her research dives into the adaptive performance practices of German chamber music from the 1760’s to the 1810’s. She participates in the REMArkable mentorship program for early music researchers.
